New Assistant Superintendent Named

Dr. Smith comes to Anna ISD from Sherman ISD, after serving as its Director of Elementary Education for the past two and a half years. Prior to accepting that position, Smith has served in administrative roles in Garland ISD, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, and Allen ISD, and as a teacher in Allen ISD and Aurora R-8 School District.

“I am thrilled to join Anna ISD and serve in the community in which I live. For the past 23 years, my career in education has been guided by my passion to educate all students through collaboration, problem-solving, and building knowledge of systems and structures to support teaching and learning. I look forward to beginning the new year with this great school district and working alongside this outstanding team’” said Gayle Smith.

Smith received her Bachelor of Science from Missouri Southern State College in 1997, her Master of Science from Dallas Baptist University in 2004, and her Doctoral Degree in 2014.

“We are excited to have Dr. Smith join our Anna family. Her passion strongly aligns with Anna ISD’s mission, vision, and core values,” said AISD Superintendent Michael Comeaux.

Gayle Smith will be replacing Sue Akins, who will be retiring at the end of December.
