On November 12, elementary Gifted and Talented students were bused from their elementary campuses to the new Makerspace area of Anna High School. There, the sixty-six students worked with high school Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Principles of Engineering students to build and modify robots to complete real world application challenges. The students returned on November 13 to learn coding in order to create an autonomous robot that will complete similar challenges with aid of the Anna 8th grade PLTW Robotics and Automation class. This was made possible through a grant provided by a partnership between Toyota and Project Lead The Way. The students were very successful in their endeavors and the activity has sparked interest in the younger students to participate in the robotics program at Anna ISD as well as helping them consider a STEM career in the future.
