Anna High School Saxophonist Dylan Stepherson was named to the 2017 ATSSB All-State Jazz Band. This marks the second time in as many years that Dylan has earned a spot in the All-State Jazz Band. After earning 1st chair on both the tenor and baritone saxophone at the ATSSB Region 5 auditions in September, Dylan's first place performance at the Area North competition earned him 1st chair on tenor saxophone in the 2017 All-State Jazz Band. Congratulations to Dylan on becoming a two-time All-State Jazz Saxophonist.
Dylan will now be part of a 4 day clinic and concert in San Antonio as part of the Texas Music Educators State Convention from February 8th through the 11th. The event culminates with a concert played for music educators from around the state.
Band Director Justin Wallis commented, "To make either the concert or jazz All-State band even one time is an amazing achievement, but twice is something very few students ever accomplish! Not to mention, he's made it on two different instruments. I don't have a way to access the data, but I bet that is a rare occurrence if it's ever happened at all! We're so proud of Dylan!"
